The Hearty Meals Business Model Canvas shown below represents the company’s relationships with partners and customers. It allows us to organize the resources we need to implement the Hearty Meals program. First, our key partners are social workers that specifically work with cardiac patients, local supermarkets or farms that will supply our produce, and local delivery companies that will bring Hearty Meals to our customers’ doorsteps. More internal key resources include nutritionists/dietitians

to validate our recipes and warehouses to produce the final Hearty Meals package with recipes, nutrition, and education cards. Key activities of Hearty Meals involve assisting CHF patients to maintain low sodium diets and continuing education with every meal. Another key activity is quality control, choosing only low sodium, nutritious, and tasty recipes by our internal dietitians or nutritionists and using American Heart Association diet guidelines. Using seasoned produce is also a key activity in providing our customers with a diverse and up-to-date menu, while keeping produce costs low. The Hearty Meals value proposition is providing customization, accessibility, and health benefits. The meals are tailored to the CHF population and provide satisfying healthy meals while maintaining the low sodium guideline. A major value proposition is giving our customers the convenience of having the meals delivered directly to them. Our primary customers are the CHF population and our secondary customers involve healthcare workers, specifically social workers that specialize in the heart department, delivery companies, and supermarkets or farms. Initial subscriptions to the Hearty Meals program will be arranged by the hospital social worker before a CHF patient gets discharged. At home, CHF customers will be able to renew subscriptions and order their meals online. The website will also have a contact information page for any other inquiries. Hearty Meals can keep customer retention by having a rewards program. For example, for every 5th meal a patient orders, they will get the 6th meal for free. The cost structure will include a rewards for loyal customers, holiday discounts, supply of produce and packaging, creation of recipe and education cards, and possible future insurance coverage for patients. The Hearty Meal’s main revenue will come from the initial enrollment subscription fee and the fixed cost of meals. Meal will cost $10 and generally serve 2-4 people. This fixed cost, along with using only seasonal produce, will help the company gain revenue. The business model canvas is a great tool, which allowed us to think of additional requirements to implement that business, such as partnering with delivery companies. Education is a significant part of the program, therefore healthcare workers play a big role in emphasizing the importance of nutrition and introducing the program to their patients. Hearty Meals values providing education for our clients and we hope to engage them with our educational information delivered with each meal.
