Converging on Feasible & Effective Ideas

For our CHF population, the top 5 pains in the management of their care include:
-Remembering to take multiple medications
-Following a low-sodium diet
-Limiting fluid intake
-Checking daily weights every day
-Difficulty keeping active, immobility
Based off of our audience’s pains, we really wanted to help find a solution to help make management of their chronic condition easier. We narrowed down our brainstorming ideas to these 3 solutions
1. CHF Mobile Application
This app would have daily reminders to input weights
Daily reminders to check blood pressure & heart rate
Medication alerts throughout the day
2. Tele-health Weighing Scale
This scale would transmit the patient’s weight to their provider
Would alert their provider if there is an increase of weight
3. CHF Meal Delivery Service
Delivering low-sodium meals to patient’s homes
Similar to Blue Apron, but with cardiac healthy diets
We felt that it was difficult to narrow down our top idea. We initially were going to choose using a mobile application but we had to keep the user's capabilities in mind. With majority of the CHF population being over the age of 65yrs, we knew that having a mobile app or device was not going to be the most effective solution.
We chose to go with the CHF Meal Delivery Solution. We felt that this solution would help our CHF group be more engaged and in control of their care. This solution would address the pain of following a low sodium diet. With this solution, we propose to send pre-portioned ingredients, which maintain a low sodium limit, with easy to follow recipe instructions. In order to promote CHF education with our service, we would also like to provide educational information free with each meal.

As we work towards creating our first prototype, we will keep you up to date on our progress!
