The "thing" I will be exploring for my Interactive Health Example Reflection and Critique assignment is a mobile phone application called "WOW ME 2000mg Heart Failure Self-management Tool for Patients and Caregiver". This application was developed by AtlantiCare with the goal to assists Heart Failure patients in managing their chronic condition.

I was initially interested in this application because I was searching for current technology available to the public to help prevent heart failure re-admissions, which is one of the leading causes of hospitalizations in the United States.

This application can help the patient to identify early signs of Heart Failure Decompensation while helping them to maximize their over-all level of wellness. It includes a log for blood pressure and heart rate, along with notifications if it is out of normal range. The application includes "medications checklist" to allow for tracking of daily medications that take into account "hold parameters" based on daily assessment. There is a step counter to promote activity, symptom evaluations, and a fluid intake and output monitoring log. All of the data logged into the application can be shared with providers or family members via phone or email.

I found this application simply by searching heart failure health apps online. There are limited applications available and most are targeted towards providers. I found this application to be simple and user friendly. I was able to download the application onto my personal mobile device and will begin to use it myself to see how the user-experience is on a daily basis.

Below are a few screen shots from the application:
